We even participate in democracy to choose our local representatives, mayors, and presidents. If we were to list everything a person could choose in a lifetime, that list would easily run into the millions.
Yet, there are aspects of existence where choice plays no part. We do not get to pick the geography we are born into. We cannot choose our parents or our siblings. Unfortunately, we have no say in our race, our nationality, or our mother tongue. Similarly, we do not choose the biological sex we are born with.
